Grant Instruments

Grant Instruments

Grant Instruments are a world leader in the manufacture and design of equipment for sample preparation and scientific analysis, providing solutions to global scientific and industrial markets. Grant Instruments is probably best known for its extensive range of water baths and circulators, but they also manufacture a comprehensive range of innovative Grant Bio life science equipment. Here is a brief example of some of those products.

PTR-35 and PTR-60 Compact Variable Speed/Angle Vertical Rotators

Grant’s Vertical Multi-Function Rotators are compact, variable speed and angle rotators providing vertical rotation, reciprocation and vibration. All actions (360° vertical rotation, reciprocation and vibration plus pause) may be set for continuous or timed operation, and individual phases may be linked together for absolute flexibility.

There is a choice of two models - PTR-35 or PTR-60 - with different speeds and microtube capacities (up to 26 or 48 microtubes) and there is an optional accessory platform for accommodating tubes of different diameters. They are suitable for use in cold rooms and incubators.

They are suitable for immuno precipitations and other affinity matrix applications, prevention of blood coagulation, latex diagnostics and are used in a variety of applications, from hybridisation reactions, cell growth, soft extraction and homogenisation of biological components in solution as well as reactions for binding and washing magnetic particles.

PS-M3D Variable Speed/Angle, Multi-Function 3D Rocker-Rotator

Ideally sized for personal use, the Grant Multi-Function 3D Rocker-Rotator (PS-M3D) provides all that is required for thorough mixing in flasks, dishes, petri dishes and boxes. 3D rotation, reciprocal 3D rotation and vibration can all be set for continuous or timed operation, and individual phases may be linked together for absolute operational flexibility.

A smooth, non-slip mat is supplied as standard which prevents vessels from slipping. The operating temperature range of +4 to +40°C allows it to be used in a cold room or incubator.

Suitable for mixing applications in many different fields, with specific applications including immuno precipitations and other affinity matrix applications, treatment of adherent tissue culture in small volumes, e.g. for trypsinisation, gel staining and destaining, antibody staining, washes, hybridisations, Southern blots, western blots, in situs.

FTA-1 “Personal” Aspirator

The FTA-1 Aspirator comes with 1 litre trap flask and is designed for the aspiration or removal of any remaining alcohol or buffer from micro test tube walls during DNA / RNA purification and other macromolecule re-precipitation techniques. It is an ideal personal tool for independent operation away from an inline lab vacuum supply. There is a choice of either a single tip operation or a multi-tip option with 8 tips for use on standard PCR type plates.

The integrated micro-biological filter is hydrophobic and designed to trap any bacteria, viruses or infected particles which may have been present in the aspirated solutions.
